Question: Can I enroll separately in Phlebotomy and EKG?

Answer: You can enroll in Phlebotomy program and receive a Phlebotomy graduation certificate and you can enroll separately in EKG program and receive EKG graduation certificate. You do not need to complete CNA program in order to enroll in Phlebotomy/EKG. You will be able to schedule both CPT and CET certification exams, but you will not be eligible to schedule CPCT exam and to become Certified Patient Care Technician.

    1. You can enroll in CNA program without HS/GED diploma after you pass the entrance test (test is free of charge).
You can enroll in PCT without HS/GED diploma, but I would not recommend it because the main benefit of PCT program is a good chance to become employed in a hospital, but hospitals today do not employ people without HS/GED diploma.

    2. You can enroll in CNA program without HS/GED after you pass during registration an entrance test. Test is free of charge. Please call 212-947-7940 to schedule an appointment.

  1. Hello,

I would like to enroll for PCT classes however, its too pricey at the moment so instead I am interested in doing the EKG and Phlebotomy separately. Would there be any major differences not being able to take the CPCT? Are my chances less than w/o that exam?

    Thanks

    1. You can enroll with a foreign HS diploma, but you must have CNA certificate in order to enroll in PCT program because it is NYS requirement

    1. Hi,

      Thank you for your question.
Unfortunately per NYS Education Department, CNA license is a mandatory entrance requirement to enroll in PCT program.

As alternative option, I would recommend to consider to enroll in Patient Care Specialist program which includes CNA and PCT as a modules and you need to have HS/GED as only one entrance requirement. In addition, Patient Care Specialist program is eligible for financial aid and we can check your eligibility. Please call us at 212-947-7940 with all further questions. Thank you!

  2. Hello, I saw in one of the requirements for the PCT program, must have a NYS CNA license. Will it be ok if I have a NJS CNA license, considering I am working currently as a CNA in NJ and I just want to apply for this PCT course. Will it still be possible to apply for it or no?

  3. Hi can I be a Pct? if I didn’t take the cna exam but have my cpr certification, graduated from the course and have my high school diploma?

    1. Hi, you must have valid CNA license.
If you want to find a job as pct, CNA license will be required.

    1. Phlebotomy is 75 hours course (3 weeks with 25 hours/week schedule) and EKG is 60 hours course (2.5 weeks with 25 hours per week schedule).

    1. Sorry, but medical assistant certificate is not equivalent to CNA certificate. You need to complete Nurse Assistant (CNA) program and pass NYS CNA certification exam in order to be eligible to enroll in PCT program

  4. I have my RN license, with my nursing training am i able to bypass cna training and enroll in pct program?
