At New Age Training, we are proud to support our graduates with on-site certification exams that prepare them for employment and industry recognition.
We are an official testing center for both the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) and Prometric, and we also offer BLS/CPR certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
Available Certifications:
Our graduates are eligible to take the following certifications upon graduating:
Prometric Exam (New York State Department of Health):
- NYS Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Exam
- Administered at New Age Training’s campus for:
- NAT graduates (within 2 years of graduation)
- Eligible candidates from other CNA training schools
- Notes:
- Although some temp agencies may use the term “license” interchangeably, Prometric refers to this as a certification, not a license.
- To be certified as a CNA in New York State, candidates must pass both parts of the CNA Certification Exam:
- The Written Exam
- The Clinical Skills Exam
- If a candidate fails either part, they are allowed up to three attempts total to pass both sections.
- If a candidate does not pass after three attempts, they must re-enroll in a NYSDOH-approved CNA training program before testing again.
- Public CNA Registry:
- CNA certifications are part of a public registry, which can be accessed online via the New York State Nurse Aide Registry.
- This registry does not display personal information, but anyone including employers, patients, or others can verify whether a nurse aide is currently certified in New York.
- If a candidate has never passed both parts of the CNA exam, their name will not appear in the registry.
National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Exams (For New Age Training graduates only):
- CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
- CPCT – Certified Patient Care Technician
- CPT – Certified Phlebotomy Technician
- CET – Certified EKG Technician
- CMAA – Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)
- Candidates are eligible to sit for the NHA exam within 5 years of program completion.
American Heart Association (AHA):
- BLS/CPR Certification
- Held monthly at the school with certified AHA instructors
- Upcoming dates are listed on our website
Important Notes
- Certification vs. License:
These credentials are certifications, not state-issued licenses. - The NHA Cerifications are recognized nationally
- The CNA Certification is recognized and approved by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and New York State Department of Education (NYSDOE).
- Certification Renewal:
Most certifications are valid for two years. It is the graduate’s responsibility to renew before expiration to avoid a lapse. - Exam Scheduling and Oversight:
- Prometric CNA Exams:
